Information from ITIS

WHAT TYPE OF INFORMATION IS PROVIDED BY I.T.I.S.?

ITIS strives to provide current information to patients and health care professionals regarding exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Examples of appropriate questions that ITIS can help with include:

exposure to prescription or over-the-counter medications;
maternal illness or infection;
exposure to chemicals in the workplace; or,
exposure to alcohol, cigarettes, or other drugs during pregnancy.

Our services have typically provided by telephone counseling. If you have any questions or wish to take advantage of our free service, contact us at (800)252-4847 or (312)981-4354. Normal business hours for ITIS are Monday thru Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST.

By placing our services on the Internet, ITIS is seeking to provide broader and easier access to ITIS while maintaining the confidentiality and support of more traditional counseling.

Because ITIS is funded by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health, we are unable to answer questions from residents of other states. If you reside outside of Illinois, please visit the Organization for Teratogen Information Services website or call at (866)626-6847 to locate a service near you.
